Meet the band
Our samba band is a lively and eclectic mix of musicians, from seasoned pros to passionate beginners, all united by one thing: a love for samba! Whether you’ve been playing for decades or are just discovering the rhythm, everyone brings something special to the table. We’re all about having fun, making music together, and sharing the infectious energy of samba with anyone ready to dance along. Each performance is a celebration of our unique sounds, backgrounds, and a shared passion for spreading joy through music. Join us on this rhythmic journey — it’s bound to be a blast!
Jordan Packham
Band director and teacher
As the director of The Sambistas, I’ve had the pleasure of working with musicians of all levels, helping them find their groove while fostering a fun, supportive environment. Known for my enthusiasm and patience, I aim to make every rehearsal and performance an exciting experience where everyone can learn and grow at their own pace. Whether you're new to samba or an experienced player, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.
Libby Farrow
Dance teacher and co-ordinator
Having explored as many different dance workshops and classes as possible over the years, I found a love and aptitude for Pan-African and Samba dance styles.
Joining Sambistas a good 15 years ago as a beginner, I developed a true affection for the music, dance style and the particularly wonderful people that the troupe attracts.
Being asked to become the teacher, choreographer and lead performer for he dancers was an absolute thrill, and 8 years in, it is still one of life’s lil’ treats.
Being a part of this inclusive, enthusiastic and fun loving bunch, is an honour and a joy. Leading workshops, performing at festivals and inviting crowds to get their boogie shoes on, is where Sambistas thrive

Lucy
Band organisation
I’m Lucy, and I’m the one behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly in our drumming group. I’ve always been passionate about both the music and the dance, and I love being involved in every aspect. While I’m just as hands-on with the rhythms as everyone else, I also take care of the admin and help manage everything online to keep the group organised and on track. It’s so rewarding to see the band thrive, and I’m proud to play my part in keeping us all connected and moving forward.
